The British composite materials association has published guidelines for FRP bridge design

Composites UK has published a guide to the design of FRP Bridges, funded by UK highways and rail networks, through the UK building industry research and intelligence association (CIRIA).

The guide shares the development history of fiber reinforced composite Bridges in the UK and introduces FRP materials, manufacturing processes and related design criteria.Sustainability is also highly recommended.

At present, designers have little reference materials and no accepted design standards for composite Bridges.As a result, the British composite materials association developed this guide in response to the practical needs of the industry.However, European standards for structural design are being developed, and there is a dizzying amount of guidance from material manufacturers.The guide aims to help bridge engineers better understand the properties of fiber composites and guide them to apply them more effectively in the modern bridge design process.
